Urban Outfitters Posters
As an avid lover of fashion and clothing, when Urban Outfitters had an opportunity for an internship, I jumped at the chance. To apply you had to create designs relating to their store and I decided to create a sale poster. While I did not get the internship in the end, I continued working on the idea of making posters for them. It was a unique and invigorating process that combined my love for Urban and their distinctive style with my own style of design.
When creating these posters, I wanted to capture the youthful spirit that the store has as well as the funky and hip vibes that I would always feel when entering the store. A lot of the poster and advertising work that I have seen for Urban Outfitters felt hand-drawn and would always pop out at me with bright colors and illustrations. I wanted to capture this feeling, utilizing illustrations that I drew of the Seattle skyline and the Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver. Along with the illustrations the posters also feature a limited selection of colors, that are bright and pop but don't overwhelm the viewer. I also wanted to include a personal element to these pieces, so both posters include photos of me wearing clothing articles that could be purchased during the sale. Urban also tends to frequent a modern design that cultivates an atmosphere of the past, so I included both organic and geometric forms to bring about a feeling of past and present.
Note: this is a personal project that was originally utilized in the Urban Outfitters summer 2024 internship. It is meant for continuing to grow design skills. It was not meant for consumption or profit.
